John Johnson, MD

Dr. John O. Johnson, MD, is a highly skilled radiologist with expertise in Body Imaging, Cardiovascular Imaging, Mammography and Breast Interventions, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT.

He earned his interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science degree in Cardiovascular Physiology from the University of Florida, where he also obtained his medical degree with Junior AOA honors in 1985. Dr. Johnson completed his internship at Mercy Hospital and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where he served as Chief Resident.

Since joining Imaging Healthcare Specialists in 1990, Dr. Johnson has played a vital role in the organization. He has held several leadership positions, including Chief of Radiology at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Currently, he serves as the Chief of CT Imaging at both Imaging Healthcare Specialists and Scripps Mercy Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Johnson co-authored and edited the Imaging Guidelines for Milliman and Robertson, an international utilization management firm. He is also a primary architect of the Low Radiation Dose Initiative at Imaging Healthcare Specialists.
